St Giles Primary take on Blackman and Gollop “B” and Reynold Weekes battle against Luther Thorne as the quarter-finals of the Pine Hill Dairy-sponsored National Sports Council’s Primary Schools Netball Competition get going at the Netball Stadium tomorrow morning. On Friday, the quarter-final match-ups continue when Blackman and Gollop “A” clash with All Saints Primary and Bay Primary square off against Grantley Prescod Primary.
In today’s round two action, Ignatius Byer defeated West Terace 4-2, while Grantley Prescod and West Terrace played to a 7-7 draw. Ignatius Byer were in winners’ row again, defeating St Mary’s 9-3. Abigale Alleyne was in excellent shooting touch for the winners netting eight goals from eight attempts.
Reynold Weekes took to the court and beat up on St Mary’s, 12-5. Derica Haynes missed only one of her seven attempts at a goal while team-mate Raynisha Leon scored six goals from 11 attempts.
Marissa Corbin scored two goals from as many attempts for St Mary’s while Shereanna Belgrave netted three goals from four attempts. Reynold Weekes and Grantley Prescod engaged in a titanic battle that ended in a 11-9 victory for Reynold Weekes. Leon had the perfect touch this time around, scoring six goals from six attempts while Haynes had five goals from eight attempts.
Ashley Phillips netted seven goals from 11 attempts for Grantley Prescod while Deansha Goddard added two goals from four attempts. In zone four play, Bay Primary disposed of Belmont Primary 10-5 with Jhenna Clarke netting five from six attempts and Shanice Downie, five from nine.
Julisa Jones-Smith had three from three and Faith Jackson two from four for Belmont. However, Bay Primary found All Saints Primary a different proposition going down 7-6. Kiara Cumberbatch had five goals from six attempts and Amaris Maynard two from two for the winners, while Clarke (four from nine) and Downie (two from four) again led Bay Primary’s offensive efforts.
In other matches, All Saints defeated Hilda Skeene 5-1; St Bernard’s beat Hilda Skeene 5-1; and Belmont Primary won 6-3 over St Bernard’s Primary.
