The Pine Hill Dairy-sponsored National Sports Council’s Primary Schools Netball Competition got underway today with a number of schools from the north of the island seeing action at Speightstown, St Peter.
Ignatius Byer had a 7-0 walkover win over St. Albans with Katrice Broome shooting a perfect four goals from four attempts while teammate Kristie Griffith had three goals from six attempts.
Ignatius Byer had tougher competition from St Lucy but still emerged the victors with a 3-2 result. Broome and Griffith were again on the mark with the former netting two goals from two attempts to complete an excellent morning, and Griffith’s goal coming from three attempts. Tianne Watson scored St. Lucy’s goals from two attempts.
The match between Boscobel and Gordon Greenidge was drawn 1-1 with Nyesha Babb being Boscobel’s goal-scorer and Jenna Greaves’ only attempt resulting in a goal for Gordon Greenidge.
Boscobel returned to the court against Half Moon Fort and won 5-0 with Shamika Watson shooting a perfect four of four and Jenia Ross scoring the other goal.
Half Moon Fort had a narrow 2-1 win over St Lucy with a goal each for Faith Marshall and Tatyana Kellman and Watson scoring for St Lucy.
All Saints defeated Selah 3-1 thanks to three goals from five attempts by Jalisa Thompson. Jonique Broomes was the only one to get on the scoresheet for Selah.
