New champions will be crowned in the National Sports Council’s Pine Hill Dairy-sponsored Primary Schools Netball Tournament and so far Vauxhall Primary have earned a place in the final.

All quarterfinal games were played today at the Netball Stadium followed by one semifinal game between Ignatius Byer Primary and Vauxhall with the latter winning 10-6.
They await the winner from the West Terrace and St Giles Primary match-up when the second semifinal is played this Friday at the Netball Stadium.

Individual stats for that particular semi-final clash were unavailable up to publication time but at half-time Vauxhall had a one-goal lead at 4-3 and they went on to win the game. Special mention must be made of Vauxhall goalkeeper Olianna Bishop who was superb and ensured nothing got past her for the majority of the game
Prior to that four quarter-final games were played and among them were two-time defending champions Blackman and Gollop Primary who did not have the best of competitions this year and lost today’s game 19-3 to West Terrace Primary. Goal-attack Anise Alleyne netted ten goals from 13 attempts and goal-shooter Chantel Pinder nine of 13 for the winners. Goal-shooter Shalyssa Kirton scored all three of Blackman and Gollop’s goals.

Ignatius Byer also got into double figures when they defeated A DaCosta Edwards 13-7 to reach the semi-final. Goal-attack Kristie Griffith had eight goals from ten attempts and goal-attack Shania Boyce five from 11. Scoring for A DaCosta Edwards were goal-shooter Kiarra Taylor with four and goal-attack Makayla Boyce with three.
Vauxhall Primary defeated All Saints Primary 9-6 thanks to seven goals from goal-attack Nyesha Harewood and two from goal-shooter Makayla Lynch. Meanwhile, All Saints goal-attack Elicia Phillips had five and goal-shooter Natalia White netted one.

Meanwhile St Giles continued to show great promise with a convincing 16-7 victory against Westbury Primary. The winners were led by goal-attack Serena Edwards and goal-shooter Shemarla Wickham who scored eight goals each while Westbury’s goal-shooter Kishana Sargeant had four goals and goal-attack Abianne Burrowes, three.
